Juan Mata has been voted Manchester United’s Player of the Month for September after playing a starring role in a busy few weeks for the Reds.
The German midfielder, the Reds’ second highest appearance-maker this term, started every match last month and opened his goalscoring account for the club in last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Leicester City. His maiden strike came on the back of his vital contribution in the dramatic victory at Watford a week earlier, when his cross caused Troy Deeney to score a decisive own goal in injury time.
Schweinsteiger was the clear victor in our online poll, scooping 55 per cent of the votes. Chris Smalling, our October winner, was second with 30 per cent, while Jesse Lingard gleaned 15 per cent.
